1. How is our telematic unit, different from the telematic unit which comes in the vehicle?
Technically, they have the same functionality.
2. Can we integrate with in the telematic unit available in the vehicle?
It’s possible, it would have be prioritized and backed up with a business plan. After, we would have to contact the telematic partner and initiate a partnership.
3. Are we able to integrate with any telematic partner?
We have integration with Zonar. We are collaborating with Platform Science, Geotab and Samsara for future integrations.
4. Does the customer need to buy or pay for a SIM card?
The SIM card is inside the telematic unit and there’s no additional charge for the customer, since it is included in the monthly subscription.
5. Can the customer replace the telematic unit SIM card with their own SIM card?
No, if the customer opens the telematic unit, the warranty is lost. Besides the SIM card number is automatically associated to the telematic unit in the cloud and it cannot be changed.
6. How long does it take to do an installation?
It depends. The 1st might take a little longer, since the user must determine where power is located and the correct location for the enablers, to ensure good sensor reception. For the 2nd and other similar vehicles, it could take up to a maximum of 2 hours per vehicle.
7. How many vehicles do I have to configure in ContiConnect?
You must configure 1 vehicle per power unit, 1 trailer and 1 trailer for each ATL, including the power unit. Each of them must have their own vehicle ID in ContiConnect.
8. Can the driver be notified when an alert is raised?
In case the fleet provides a tablet to the driver, the user can install the On-Site app and have access to his vehicle notifications. The app is available for Android and iOS devices.
9. Can the Live solution capture TPMS data from valve cap sensors?
Yes, and a mix of in-tire mounted sensor with valve cap sensor is also possible.
10. Do I have to reconfigure my in-vehicle Hardware when changing wheels or when a change from valve to in-tire mounted sensors takes place?
Yes, when a tire sensor is changed, it’s required to provide the new sensor ID to ContiConnect. When a change of valve to in-tire mounted sensor occurs, additionally, it’s recommended to run a new sensor reception test, since you might have to relocate the enabler units or add one enabler unit to the vehicle, to ensure a good sensor reception.
11. How long does it take for the Trailer unit battery to charge?
If the trailer unit was with very low battery, as soon as the temperature reaches the 32 Fahrenheit, the battery starts charging and it can take up to 7-8h to reach the 100%.
If the battery is fully discharged, it should not take much more than 1-2h to reach the 20% level, once again depending on the outside temperature.
12. What’s the maximum number of tires supported by supported by ContiConnect?
When using the HHT, the HHT only supports up to 32 tire positions, which can be distributed among a maximum of 12 axles. If your customer requires more than 32 tire positions, a manual configuration into ContiConnect is possible, as work around.
13. If I migrate a customer from LITE to paying customer, is it required to reconfigure the vehicles?
No, no data is lost. All vehicle data and historical data is kept and available for the user.
14. What’s the difference between ContiConnect On-Site app and LITE?
With the regular ContiConnect On-Site app credentials, the user has access to the same data as in the Portal. Which means data collected via Yard Reader or Live solution are displayed in the App and Portal.
With the LITE credentials, the user only has access to data collected with the cell phone. The user must have the app running in the frontend of his mobile device and capture the Bluetooth telegrams from the sensors in the proximity!
15. How long does it take to create a LITE user?
The user creation process is the same as a regular user. Monica Riggings gets an email notification, creates the user in our systems and sends mail to the LITE user with his credentials.
16. What to do when Gen2 sensor is not read by app / displayed in app?
f you are not sure if the sensor is active, you can use the HHT, menu “Sniffing Tool” to check it.
If you confirm that the sensor is deactivated and it’s a brand-new sensor and you have the sensor on the palm of your hands, get your HHT, Menu “Tire sensor” -> “Sensor in Sight” and select “Activate Sensor”. Proactively, I would propose to activate and deactivate and activate the sensor a 2nd time.
If the sensor is inside a wheel, get your HHT, Menu “Tire sensor” -> “Sensor inside wheel” and scan the sensor or Menu “Check all Tires” and scan the sensor while you create your HHT report. Using the option to create the HHT report normally activates sensors on your hand and on the wheel.
If the sensor is still not displayed on your app, please close the app. Open the app in the frontend of your phone and wait 16seconds. Sending the app to the background, it won’t solve the issue. Only by closing and opening the app, it would trigger the reading process of sensors in the proximity.
17. Can I configure valve cap sensors with my LITE account?
No, Valve cap sensors do not have a Bluetooth chip, so it’s not possible to collect data from valve cap sensors with the ContiConnect On-site app.
18. If Continental does not offer the intelligent tire size required by the user, can the user still register for LITE?
Yes, we do not have any limitation. If they want to monitor their vehicle, they would have to purchase sensors from the dealer and get the sensors glued to their tire.
